Each week, we bring you our top picks for the best places to booze on the cheap in SF.
1. Paso Robles Wine Tasting: We're excited to announce the first-ever LTB contest! If you're interested in attending next Thursday's Paso Robles wine tasting in Menlo Park, e-mail here to enter to win a pair of tickets. The first two respondents each get a pair, and we'll take this contest down as soon as we get our winners. (Please don't enter if you're not 100% positive you'll be able to make it down to Menlo on Thursday-- thanks.) Thanks for entering the contest! We have two winners. Even if you didn't win the contest, though, you can use the exclusive code7x7paso to get a $5 discount on admission, bringing the cost of an evening of hard tasting to $40. (Thursday, April 22, 6-8 pm, at Quadrus Conference Center, 2400 Sand Hill Road, Menlo Park.)
2. SFMOMA: Now Playing: In yet another bonding attempt between the museum world and the hip crowd, SFMOMA has joined the fray of those offering Thursday-night activities for youngsters who like a little culture with their cocktails. This "Vertigo"-themed event in the Rooftop Garden cafe is designed to celebrate "Feature Film," an up-close view of conductor James Conlon as he conducts the Paris Symphony in the score for said film. Your half-price museum admission ($7.50 adults, $4.50 students) comes with free Scribe chardonnay and Trumer Pils, and Meatpaper will offer $5 plates from hot locales like Poggio, Blue Bottle, and Bi-Rite. (Thursday, April 15, 6-8 pm, at SFMOMA, 151 Third St., SOMA.)
3. Lunch Deals at Rosamunde Mission: The newish Mission outpost of sausage-slinger Rosamunde doesn't need to have the Toronado next door: it has its own extensive beer selection, and if you swing by for weekday lunch, cheap canned brews abound. PBR is $1, Tecate is $2, and Oskar Blues' Little Yella Pils and 21st Amendment's Watermelon Wheat are each $3. Grab a sausage, or keep lunch liquid: it's up to you. (Monday-Friday, 11 am-4 pm, at Rosamunde Sausage Grill, 2832 Mission Street, Mission.)
4. Tax Day Free Wine: Did the IRS just take a good-sized bite out of your bank account? Bin 38 is here for you. The first 75 sad sacks receive a free glass of red, white, or bubbly, but if you don't make the cutoff, don't despair: glasses will be $5 for the rest of the night, perfect for your decimated finances. (Thursday, April 15, 5 pm-1 am, at Bin 38, 3232 Scott St., Marina.)
5. Johnnie Walker Tasting: The colorful folks over at Johnnie Walker want you to buy their whiskey, but if even Black Label is a reach, you can try the entire family (well, maybe not the Blue Label) for free. RSVP here to get access to one of the nightly tastings that will occur all next week; get there early, though, as the Walker mafia has noted that an RSVP is not a guarantee of admission. (Monday, April 19-Monday, April 26, tour times vary, at Dogpatch Studios, 991 Tennessee St., Dogpatch.)
