Each week, we bring you our top picks for the best places to booze on the cheap in SF.
1. SF Vegan Drinks: With all the rules and regulations that go into being a vegan, alcoholic beverages are typically a safe choice, which is probably why we see so many vegans downing them on a regular basis. Network with fellow vegans (or try out the lifestyle) at this special happy hour, which will feature $5 alcoholic root beer floats and $1 vegan "hot dogs." Just be sure not to drink so much that you find yourself suggesting late-night pizza or burritos. (Thursday, May 27, 6-8 pm, at Martuni's, 4 Valencia St., Upper Market.)
2. Victory Hour: The online reputation service Reppify is sponsoring a Thursday happy hour at Harlot, where they'll be promoting the act of "taking credit for something you didn't do." Drink specials remain unidentified, but with a company involved, it's safe to say that they'll be around-- unless someone wants to take credit for cancelling them, in which case all bets are off. (Thursday, May 27, 6-9 pm, at Harlot, 46 Minna St., SOMA.)
3. House Party: The charity SF Family House is sponsoring an event at 111 Minna with two components: an early-evening happy hour and a late-evening jazz-party. The happy hour features $4 wells, $3 drafts, and $5 wine; the late event costs a suggested $20 donation to the charity (which supports children with cancer and their families), and includes a free drink ticket. (Thursday, May 27, happy hour 5-7 pm, event at 8:30 pm, at 111 Minna Gallery, 111 Minna St., SOMA.)
4. Destroy Your Liver: Yelp's weekly happy hour can be found this week at Whiskey Thieves, where they'll be dishing up $3 draft beers and well drinks, a $7 shot-and-a-beer combo, and $1 draft beers with a pour of whiskey. There's also a market across the street that will be offering to-go Mexican food, according to the organizers. And there will be Yelpers in their natural habitat, whatever that's worth. (Friday, May 28, 6:30-8 pm, at Whiskey Thieves, 839 Geary St., Tenderloin.)
