UC Berkeley’s Greek Theatre filled with movement last Friday as Sound Tribe Sector Nine and Bassnectar layered beats, flickered into their signature light show and kicked cuts from recently released Peaceblaster.
By the time dusk rolled to dark and glowsticks started to light up, it was a total dance party. Costume-clad audience members waved ferry-like shawls and sported Kiss-like face paint.
As always, Sound Tribe mixed their set with tracks from nearly all five of their albums, but weighted it heavily with new material. By closing with the fast-paced, energetic rhythms of “Inspire Strikes Back,” Sound Tribe was forced into an encore by the roaring crowd. A nearly 10-minute rendition of “EHM” left the listeners pleading for more.
