Pictures can’t do justice to the breathtaking Brutalist design of Hotel Volga. The boutique property revolves around a grand atrium, an open-air column of light stretching from a sunken urban cenote to the sky.

The Andaz is a bright, playful complex at the heart of one of Mexico City’s most charming neighborhoods. Housed within a historic Art Deco masterpiece, woven with vibrant color and energy, the less than three-year-old property has 213 guest rooms (20 of them suites) distributed across 17 stories. The accommodations are comfortably hip, with record players and exchangeable vinyl collections, Byredo bath amenities, 55-inch TVs with Chromecast, and complimentary wifi. The extensive buffet breakfast at Pórtico included in each stay was voted one of the world’s best, offering everything from bagels and fresh corn tortillas to classic Mexican and American-style dishes and a cooking station for quesadillas right off the grill.
