There's a fresh face at Virgin America: Karl The Fog.
It's been a year of lots of love for Karl (he was even in the pool of prestigious Hot 20 nominees!) so it's no surprise that our pals at everybody's favorite airline recently announced a partnership with one of San Francisco's most hallowed characters.
Virgin America states, "As a Bay Area native, Mr. Karl The Fog brings extensive experience in Bay Area weather patterns and is looking forward to sharing his unique insights with Virgin America flyers." We think he'll do a great job as Karl has proved time and time again to be reliable, intense, and lovable, doting on each and every one of us.
The carrier got a little one-on-one time with the Bay Area icon to discuss his new role as resident weather adviser:
You’ve led a pretty mysterious life. We’d like to know what makes @KarlTheFog tick. What can you tell us about yourself?
I live by the motto “fog hard, play hard.” I spend the entire summer working in San Francisco, protecting people from sweating since almost no one has air-conditioning.
Given that you’re a Bay Area native, what are your favorite local haunts?
I enjoy hanging out in my usual spots –Sutro Baths, Mt. Davidson, Cole Valley, and of course SFO. But most of all, I love the beach. Call me a romantic, but there’s nothing like the sound of crashing waves to warm my cold, gray heart.
Let’s get down to business. Why are you the most qualified man – or fog — for the job of advising Virgin America on weather?
Yes, it is a big job, but it’s one that I feel I’ve worked hard to earn. I spend a lot of time at SFO so I really know the ins and outs of airline operations. And weather is my life. Literally.
