Saturday, March 12: The fifth monthly Potrero food market is up to a dozen different vendors. This upcoming weekend, newcomers Bike Basket Pies and Old Skool Café make their debut at noon. St. Gregory of Nyssa Episcopal Church, 500 De Haro 

 

Tuesday, March 15: Season six Top Chef contender Preeti Mistry launches a new SoMa lunch spot called Juhu Beach Club, across from Bar Agricole and Slim’s. Inspired by a recent trip to Mumbai, Mistry's $10 a la carte Indian street food menu includes pay bahji, a kind of vegetarian Sloppy Joe, as well as samosas and house-made pickles. Wednesday, March 16:Self-proclaimed “vanilla queen” Patricia Rain, “saffron king” Juan San Mames, and Divine Chocolates’ Mark Magers lead a panel on the politically unstable countries that produce these foods. Moderated by SF Chronicle cheese guru and cookbook author Janet Fletcher, the discussion starts at 6:30 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Church of San Francisco.
