Holiday
Mark Foehringer's Nutcracker Sweets
It's a family affair. This version of the Nutcracker is designed with young ones (or boyfriends with short attention spans for ballet) in mind. It's only 50 minutes and features live music accompaniment and former ODC dancer Brian Fisher as Drosselmeyer.

Where: Fort Mason Center, Marina Blvd. and Buchanan St.

Art
"Proximities 3: Import/Export"
This is the finale of a trilogy of exhibitions at the museum exploring ideas of Asia through the perspectives of Bay Area artists.
When: Through Sun. 2/23
Where: Asian Art Museum, 200 Larkin St.

Shopping
Room & Board Clearance
For those of us without deep pockets, there's Room & Board's annual clearance event, where you can get floor samples and discontinued sofas, tables, storage pieces, rugs, and accessories for up to 50% off. It's R&B's one and only sale of the year, so plan to get there early. You're not the only one looking for a steal.
When: 10 a.m. - 6 p.m., Thurs. 12/26
Where: Room & Board, 685 7th St.

Music
Soul Party
You'll need a good dose of cool after all the holiday cheese. Check out The Chapel's Friday Night Soul Party featuring Marc & The Casuals with special guests, a 3-piece horn section, guitarist Tom Ayres, percussionist Alfredo Ortiz (formerly of the Beastie Boys and Money Mark), Lavay Smith, Will Sprott (The Mumlers), Brigid Dawson (Thee Oh Sees), and so many more.
When: 9 p.m., Fri. 12/27
Where: The Chapel, 777 Valencia St.

Music
Afrolicious and Blackalicious
Over the years, Afrolicious has established itself as one of the premier live music dance parties in SF. Buy pre-sale tickets online, and get a free Afrolicious Revue digital download. Then on Sunday, check out old-school hip hop with Blackalicious, who's reissuing 1993's Melodica digitally for the first time.
When: 9 p.m., Sat. 12/28 and Sun. 12/29
Where: Great American Music Hall, 859 O'Farrell St. and Slim's, 333 11th St.

Art
Fine Arts Museums of SF
Lots to see at the Fine Arts Museums, so the de Young and Legion of Honor are staying open through the holidays (minus Christmas day). David Hockney ends on January 20, The Art of Bulgari goes through February 17, and Anders Zorn (the Swedish master painter) is on view at the Legion until February 2. Add "getting cultured" to your list of New Year's resolutions.
When: Special holiday hours, 9:30 a.m. - 5:15 p.m., Mon. 12/23, Mon. 12/30, and Wed. 1/1; 9:30 a.m. - 4 p.m., Tues. 12/24 and Tues. 12/31
Where: de Young Museum, 50 Hagiwara Tea Garden Dr. and Legion of Honor, 34th Ave. and Clement St.
