While most Fourth of July celebrations ended on Thursday, here are some ideas to keep the fireworks going (literally!) all weekend long.
A classic for the Fourth of July, the Marin County Fair will be having its final two days on Saturday and Sunday so you and the family can get your fill of competitive exhibits for all ages, carnival rides, and even two concerts each day! The fair will not only have singers like The Pointer Singers and the 10-story Giant Gondola Wheel, but fireworks every night to keep the holiday going both nights. @ 10 Avenue of the Flags, San Rafael, open Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Tickets cost $14-$16 per day and can be bought here.
The best way to celebrate any holiday is wine country style — think wine, vineyards and tasting rooms! You can head up to Geyserville’s Pedroncelli Winery for the perfect combination of red and white wines with blue cheese selections, all in celebration of the holiday weekend. You’re welcome to visit the local artist exhibit room, picnic or even play Bocce as you enjoy the special weekend pairings. @ 1220 Canyon Rd, Geyserville; tasting room is open 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is $5 per person.
Independence Day Celebration at Monte Rio Beach
The place where the action is at is Monte Rio Beach, with their exciting set of weekend events all located on the Russian River. First there’s the Big Rocky Games, with activities for kids of all ages (even adults!) throughout the middle of both days, and nearby at the Monte Rio Firehouse will be the Fire Fighter BBQ. But the big attractions are on the water itself: the Water Carnival Boat Ride, and the famous Monte Rio “Water Curtain” that begins at dusk and is followed by fireworks! @ Monte Rio Beach on Russian River; free event that is both Saturday and Sunday beginning at noon with the Big Rocky Games.
