Unsure of what to do this weekend? Try out these ideas.
Friday, September 21:Neon Indian +Teen Daze + Yalls at 1015 Folsom
Feeling like a good dance party? Head to SoMA for a DJ set from indie darling Neon Indian, a live set from dreamy sounscape artist Teen Daze, SF's own Yalls, and more. 7x7 contributor Jackson Scarlett will also be spinning between artists to keep the party going. It all ends at 3 am.
Saturday, September 22:Other Minds Film Festival Celebrating John Cage
It's legendary maverick composer John Cage's 100th birthday, so celebrate with Other Minds at Roxie Theatre. The one-day fest features wildly entertaining and rare archival footage of the iconoclastic master and his pioneering collaborators – including choreographer Merce Cunningham, artist Robert Rauschenberg, and musician/tech guru David Tudor. It's nothing less than a mind-blowing overview of radical art practice.
Saturday and Sunday, September 22-23:A Taste of Greece Festival
As SF's only Greek festival, you know there's going to be quite a bit of authenticity here. First and foremost, there is a ton of food to be had, from Kotopoulo, to lamb, to Tiropito, to Moussaka and much more. Add to that a dose of Greek musicians and performers, and a warm sunny spot in the Mission to hang out with friends and family, and you've got yourself a primo weekend destination.
