West Edge Opera is bringing new life to the Bay Area’s classical music scene with daring productions in a historic venue, and a commitment to pushing the boundaries of traditional opera performance.

At their summer festival, the highlight of the opera’s season, West Edge will feature the world-premiere of Dolores (about civil rights icon Dolores Huerta) by Nicolás Lell Benavides and Marella Martin Koch; a fresh look at Charpentier's David & Jonathan; and Berg's Wozzeck, one of the most influential operas of the 20th century.
Under the visionary leadership of general and artistic director Mark Streshinsky, the company has built a reputation for reenergizing classic and contemporary works and bringing audiences closer to the drama.
Past performances—including visually stunning interpretations of Breaking the Waves, Eliogabalo, and Cruzar de la Luna—have earned the company critical acclaim and a devoted following.

This August's festival at the Oakland Scottish Rite Center, a landmark historic venue built in 1926, will be just as striking. Dive deep into the event with a series ticket that gives you access to all three productions, or attend a single show with an individual ticket. This season, West Edge Opera will offer Saturday matinees in addition to evening performances.
Whether you’re a seasoned opera aficionado or just opera-curious, West Edge’s electrifying storytelling by world class artists showcase the art form in unforgettable ways.
Ticket sales for the festival series begin on April 1st at 10am. Single tickets are available starting June 1st at 10am.
