Now that the air is crisp, the days are shorter, and ice skating rinks are everywhere, it definitely feels like the holidays. But the Cal Academy of Sciences has made it official with their 'Tis the Season for Science series, which will delight visitors through January 6th.
They've rolled out festivities that highlight how animals adapt to the winter and endure the cold, including live reindeer hanging out in the Academy's East Garden, mounted polar bear, snow geese, monarch butterflies, California ground squirrel, ermine, and more that illustrate one of two winter strategies—heading south or staying home, indoor snow flurries twice an hour, and a special theater show about the Earth's seasons and how animals have adapted to them, inside a dome shaped like a snowman!
