The SECA Awards at SFMOMA
SFMOMA presents two exhibits in tandem—a show of the four 2010 SECA Art Award winners including Mauricio Ancalmo, Colter Jacobsen, Ruth Laskey (a 2011 Hot 20 winner), and Kamau Amu Patton and a look back at 50 years of emerging, Bay Area artists. Just in case SECA wasn't already on your radar, it's the museum's Society for the Encouragement of Contemporary Art, which seeks to honor and highlight the achievements of the most promising, up-and-coming local talent.
When: Fri. 12/9 – Tues. 4/3
Where: SFMOMA, 151 Third St.

Project Nunway Charity Fashion Show
Here's an alternative to embracing the saccharine holiday spirit: The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence and Archetype Boutique present Project Nunway III. The charity fashion (which benefits Sisters' programming) show features looks created from recycled materials. Nunway creater Sister Baba Ganesh describes it as, "a Fellini-esque drag fashion extravaganza and holiday tea dance to celebrate the end of time as we know it." Now that sounds like fun.
When: 3 - 9 p.m., Sun. 12/11
Where:Beatbox, 314 11th St.

Music
Joan Baez with the Oakland East Bay Symphony
Start to get yourself in the holiday spirit this weekend at the Oakland East Bay Symphony's "Let Us Break Bread Together" event. The Oakland East Bay Symphony joins forces with the Oakland Symphony Chorus and gospel choir, Klezmer band, and more to perform favorites like Sleigh Ride and O Holy Night. But the best part? Joan Baez will bring a little folk flair to the show.
