Three Things to Do This Weekend

Citizen Cope

Need something to do this weekend? Here are some ideas to get you out-and-about.
Friday, September 28: Twice Around the Block: A Photo Scavenger Hunt

Spend the afternoon roaming around the SOMA district in an interactive photo challenge. You will be provided nostalgic photos of the neighborhood. It is your job to decipher the clues and uncover the modern day location in the vintage image. Once you have the location, hold up the original photo and take a new picture. Text or tweet your images to Intersection for the Arts. The team or individual with the most correct wins! Be sure to register ahead of time. Free, 4-8 p.m., starts at Mint Plaza (btwn. Jessie St. & Mint St.)

Saturday, September 29: Mission District Food Tour

It’s hard enough to walk through the Mission without wanting to stop and grab some grub every hundred feet or so. Well, there’s good news. Join the Mission District Food Tour this weekend and you will have the perfect opportunity to eat to your hearts’ content. Avital Tours will take you to five of the Mission’s finest culinary purveyors. At each stop, you will meet the owners, chefs and other industry experts all while noshing on generous tastings. But wait, there’s more great news: alcohol pairing is an option when booking tickets. $64 per person, additional $16 for alcohol pairing, 11 a.m.-2 p.m., starts at 3543 Eighteenth Street.

Saturday, September 29: Citizen Cope at The Fox

It seems in the past few years we all have become familiar with the soulful, intimate tunes by Clarence Greenwood, or Citizen Cope as he is now known. His sound, a genre-bending harmony of acoustic blues, deep soul, classic rock ‘n roll and emotional vocals provides his music with a uniqueness and distinction generally known to older musicians. A talented artist, Cope plays the role of singer, songwriter, and guitarist. Grab a ticket and be sure to catch his live performance this weekend at the Fox Theater in Oakland. $32.50, 8 p.m., 1807 Telegraph Ave, Oakland.
