Financial District Bars for World Cup Watching

If you're into the World Cup, the last place you want to be at 11:30 a.m. (or 7 a.m. for you early birds and finance people) is tied to your desk waiting for that live stream to load. For those who work downtown, here's a list of some solid mid-morning sneak-out options.

Menu favorites: the Hot Turkey Pesto Sandwich and the Chili (which people claim doesn't hurt your stomach). Take advantage of their specials while watching the 11:30am game: a hot dog and Budweiser pint for $6, or chicken wings and any draft beer for $8. Doors open at 11am.

If you're in SOMA, Steff's Sports Bar (141 2nd St., between Minna St. and Natoma St.) has the best deals: $3.50 Budweiser pints and $5 Stella pints. With these prices, it's no wonder why this neighborhood bar draws a crowd, but with 12 TV's and an additional projector screen, you won't complain about missing any of the World Cup action.

The Irish Bank (10 Mark lane, off Bush St.) has seriously geared up for the World Cup . Cases in point? Bartenders in referee jerseys and the fact that they're opening their doors at 6:30 a.m. for pre-game breakfasts. The pub (has 16 beers on tap, and large projection screens in both the bar and the dining room areas.

If you're with a group, Harrington's Bar & Grill (245 Front St.) is the place to go. With TV's in almost every corner of the two-roomed restaurant, there isn't a bad table in the house (if you're timely enough to score a table, that is). Their menu offers a variety of salads, sandwiches and entrees, and the full bar has eight beers on tap and $4 Carlsberg pints all day, everyday.

Norton's Vault (500 Sacramento St. at Sansome St.) offers a full bar and menu, with 13 beers on tap. If come game time you can't grab a table or a seat at the bar, one of the four flat screen TV's will be visible if you post-up against the back wall.
