Chipotle? hahaha
One place that HAAASSSSS to be on this list is L'Avenida in the Inner Sunset! SO good! Check out it's super high burritophile score. It's my favorite in the City and should be at least top 3 on anyone's list.
L'Avenida Taqueria
511 Irving St
San Francisco, CA 94122
(415) 681-1246
Gordos on 9th gave me horrible food poisoning, but I am a regular at the Gordos at 24th and Clement and 19th and Geary - never disappointed, in fact the opposite. But steer clear of 9 and Irving, never been satisfied.
There are no descriptions. This is total fluff just to make us come to your webpage today and get your hit count up for advertisers.
You should be punished! This was lazy and little utility for readers.
The comments from people are a little more worth while but you could've compiled that into a reviewed section.
Appalled at 7x7 today.
Okay, Chipotle is not a horrible burrito, but it's nowhere near Papalote. Papalote Pollo Asado or Carne Asada burritos are outstanding. If you think Chipotle burritos are better, you smoke too much weed and eat at Chipotle then.
When I look for a good burrito I consult the pro, The Burrito Eater: http://www.burritoeater.com/main.php. Hope
look no further

I prefer Castillo in the loin (Golden Gate a Larkin), absolutely amazing burritos. However, I always drive by and pick up the goods(there is always an illegal spot in front by the atms) and no line in the evenings.
We did a burrito tasting earlier this year -- El Farolito came out on top for their pollo asada. I still prefer Cancun, El Buen Sabor, and La Corneta, however.

*note: we were trying to be vegetarian friendly but ended up with too many vegetarian burritos; i'd have preferred 1/2 as many to provide a more consistent sampling between carne asada and pollo asada.
Chipotle is better than Papalote. Papalote is a disgrace. What a joke. They couldn't hold down a habanero if it wa sthe last thing they did.
Papalote has less flavor than Chipotle... or Mc Donalds for that matter.
We are a San Diego family of Buritto-philes! Not sure what that word means... but we LOVE some good local Mex.
We recently spent Thanksgiving Week in SF and every lunch was dedicated to trying Carne Asada Burritos in an around The Mission.
So... after a week of Burrito-hopping in The Mission (Yes, I know it's not much time) here are my top 2 picks.
My Number 1 in terms of over all flavor: La Taqueria.
It's a bummer that they charge extra for Cheese, Sour Cream and Guac. It brings the price of a carne asada burrito and horchata to a whopping $12.65... ouch. Slightly overpriced.
My number 1 in terms of overall Value-to-Flavor: El Farolito.
I've got to admit that their Carne Asada is great, however... if you're feeling decadent and slightly masochistic on a atherosclerosis level... get the Carne Asada Super Suiza! OH DAMN. That was my last meal in SF and I'm STILL thinking about it.
Just the Fact that there is a List like this gives me hope for the human race! I'm inspired to start one like this in San Diego.
As for the Chipolte argument that's going on... Step Off Haters.. you know when you head somewhere for the holiday season... say Portland, OR or Denver, CO... a place where Mexican food holds no candle to SF or San Diego.... you'll be wishing there was a Chipolte near by.
Now git yourself to your local Burrito Joint and keep adding to this list. I'll be back in SF soon and need more recommendations from Passionate Burrito-philes like you.
Cheers!
For Daly City, Tauqeria Maria is an excellent, family run spot. Great burritos.
People like Chipotle. What's the big deal? I'm not a fan, but I would be surprised if Chipotle is the worst burrito joint on this list.
The plantain burrito at Little Chiuhahua is the BEST!!
Fluff piece for fans of fluff.
"Chipotle is to Mexican food what the Olive Garden is to Italian."
You'd have a point if Burritos were Mexican food.
GREEN CHILE KITCHEN.
Make up your mind. Is this going to be the readers' list or the editor's list?
Note that if Chipotle was a top reader nomination, that just reflects the character of your readership. From an ad sales perspective, it is probably wise to embrace your reader demographics.
La Canasta may be the worst taqaria in the city. If you think it is good you don't leave the marina very often.

Put Chipotle back on please! It is operating locally and that is the spirit of the survey. El Farolito has 9 locations in California, should that also be removed? People get obsessed with being paranoid about chains. People vote with their taste buds and their wallets. Also, keep in mind Chipotle employs local people, including local managers who spend their money locally just as any mom and pop would. I personally prefer El Farolito but don't hate on what people like.
If readers nominated Chipotle, then keep it on the list. I dont necessarily agree with Chipotle being on the list, but if that's what readers voted, then I dont see why you feel the need to remove it. You do ask if people agree or disagree, so let us express that in the comments.
All you idiots who are yelling at 7x7 for putting Chipotle on there, stop your crying, people VOTED for it. They are just reporting the results.
Besides they took it off after all your whining, so put your big girl panties on and deal with it.
I don't see Chipolte on the list...
Actually, Chipotle was sold off my McD's a while back and now operates under it's own weight, plus Chipotle does their best to make sure that their ingredients are local and as fresh as possible (I don't work for Chipotle, but I know someone who does).
Again: These are simply coming from our readers' suggestions. They're not being endorsed by 7x7. I'll take off the Chipotle if it'll make everyone feel better.
how could you put the El Farlito on Mission, the one off of Harrison/24th is WAY better.
Chipotle? CHIPOTLE?! SERIOUSLY?!?!!?!???
You still chose the ones to put right? Otherwise, why wouldn't we just go to Yelp... What was the system of deciding? how many people suggested each of these ? Who were these responders?
I agree with the posts above -- no right minded publication would dare put Chipotle on their list of city Taquerias. It's not even a "Burrito Joint" -- it's owned by McDonalds ! I thought the whole point was to get Local, ie the 7x7.
Chipotle?? The legitimacy of this is now gone.
Be reminded please that this list is the list based upon our readers suggestions.
CHIPOTLE??? Chipotle is to Mexican food what the Olive Garden is to Italian. Yes, they make a big burrito, but if I want to carbo-load, there are far better ways to do it. Far too much rice, far too little seasoning, far too overpriced and utterly inauthentic. I've been to about a third of the others and agree that they deserve to be here, but I'd replace Chipotle (at any and all of their myriad strip mall locations) with Taqueria Zapata at 18th and Collingwood Streets.
CHIPOTLE ??? THis list sucks dude.
