Drink Here Now: 5 Places to Sip This Week
1. Three-Martini Lunch at Park Tavern: If you're itching to relive the Mad Men glory days of lunchtime drinking, consider skipping out on work on Friday afternoon (or taking advantage of those half-time summer Fridays, if you get them) and heading over to Park Tavern. They're offering a special three-course lunch paired with your choice of three martinis or roses for $50. Choose from options like a "BLT" salad with a gin Gibson, a grilled hanger steak with a Martinez, or Rogue Creamery blue cheese with walnut bread and a smoked cherry daiquiri. The full menu (PDF) is here. (Fridays, 11:30 am-2:30 pm, at Park Tavern, 1652 Stockton St., North Beach.)
2. Golden Collective Vintage Shopping Party: Seven local vintage hounds are teaming up to offer their best wares at this party, from dresses to accessories. To sweeten the deal, they'll also be pouring copious quantities of free champagne to quaff while you shop. Does Etsy give you free champagne? We didn't think so. More info here. (Friday, July 6, 5-10 pm, at Asterisk SF, 3156 24th St., Mission.)
3. Blicks Mix at Public Works: The latest installment of this monthly dance party will feature DJ Kramer, who's become famous at Burning Man for his closing-night dance sets in the Distrikt camp. To spice up the action, the bar will offer $3 Coronas and Captain Morgan drinks until 11 pm; admission is also free before 11, and $5 after. More info here. (Saturday, July 7, 9:30 pm-3 am, at Public Works, 161 Erie St., Mission.)
4. Rock Paper Scissors Tournament and Pub Crawl: If you've been itching to show off your mad roshambo skills (and said skills are not affected by copious consumption of booze), consider joining up with this traveling tournament in North Beach, which will feature $3.50 drinks at the participating bars to fuel your quest for epic rock-paper-scissors domination. The winner will receive a $100 bar tab, and runners-up in categories like best athletic wear will also garner prizes. Added bonus: if you "like" the organizers on Facebook and RSVP to the event, they'll throw you a $1 shot. (Thursday, July 5, 8:30-11:30 pm, at Monroe, 473 Broadway, North Beach.)
5. Skeeball-a-Thon: National Brewskee-Ball champion Joey "the Cat" Mucha is throwing a boozy skee bash to benefit the Caine's Arcade Imagination Foundation, which fosters creativity and entrepreneurialism in kids. Match skeeball wits with Mucha for $1 per game, or just relax and enjoy some $3 beers and cocktails to support the cause. They'll also have prize giveaways every hour. More info here. (Sunday, July 8, 12-6 pm, at Clash HQ, 291 Ellis St., Tenderloin.)
