Head to Cal Academy for Something Fishy

On June 10 at Cal Academy, chefs including Loretta Keller, Charles Phan and John Ledbetter are teaming up for a night celebrating sustainable seafood. Given that the ocean is having a pretty rough go of it lately, this event seems particularly well-timed. Watch seafood cooking demos, listen to live music and have some delicious snacks, all while trying not to catch the eye of anything in the tanks. Admission is $10 and the event runs from 6-10 p.m.

A Showdogs Shindig Raises Funds for a Tenderloin Forest

Funds raised during the Summer Shindig at Showdogs—an event for which all you have to do is show up, eat mini corndogs, drink beer and listen to live music—will go directly to support the Tenderloin National Forest, a semi-public garden that cuts a green swath through one of the city’s most neglected neighborhoods. Tickets are $20 at the door, and the June 10 event runs from 6-8 p.m.
