Celebrate the first day of summer and end of the work week by wandering down to the Mission forFirst Fridays on 24th. Local stores and restaurants will be offering up live music, art exhibits, special deals, and bites for only 3-5 bucks. The street will also come to life with low riders, kid-friendly activities, and street performers all the way along lower 24th street from Mission St to Potrero Av. The evening kicks off at 6:30pm and continues through until 9:30. 24th Street, from Mission St. to Potrero St.



Saturday, June 2

There are few greater pleasures than sitting outside knocking back an ice cold beer. This Saturday Mo’ Magic and brewtruc are hosting a charity beer garden to raise money to support the TAY(Transitional Age Youth) program. With an impressive array of craft beers on show including Stone, Magnolia, Anderson Valley, and Lagunitas as well as a home-brew hefeweizen throwdown it is not an event for the faint hearted. There will also be a plethora of food trucks offering up delicious snacks and music to keep the masses entertained. The event starts at noon and goes until 6pm and the $20 entrance fee gets you a cup and ten 4-oz. pours. You can also get tickets here. 160 Church Street.

For most of us food is something we take for granted - it comes ready to eat from either a supermarket or restaurant.Studio Barndiva, however aim to open our eyes (and taste buds) to the full cycle of food. The exhibition Salon des Sens is an intimate look at the cycle all food takes, from compost to plant and then finally to plate. Come along to the opening night and explore the art inspired by food as well as food inspired by art, including canapes, cocktails, and wine, along with edible soil for those feeling adventurous. If you are feeling like an afternoon drive, then head down to to Saratoga for the Montalvo Arts center historic Villa’s 100th anniversary. For one afternoon the Villa will be transformed into a food and wine lover’s paradise. Featuring 21 of the best chefs in California along with 21 of the region’s finest wineries it promises to be a delicious afternoon. Chefs and winemakers will chat with guests as they prepare their food. People will be able to also bid on rare and limited wines and special dining and travel packages with proceeds going to support students, artists and musicians supported by the Montalvo Arts center. The event begins at 5:30 and runs until 8:30pm.15400 Montalvo Road, Saratoga.

In honor of World Oceans Day, NightLife at the California Academy of Sciences presents its fourth annual night of sustainable seafood cooking demonstrations—this time, with wine! See and taste how the featured chefs create dishes that are both delicious and sustainable, then learn how to pair wines with seafood and sample selections in the wine tasting hall. The night will wrap up with a pop-up screening of The End of the Line, a film by Rupert Murray from the SF Ocean Film Festival. Admission is $10 for members and $12 for non members (21+).
