Three Great Bike Events to Wrap Up 2013

By

The holidays are rapidly approaching, but there are still plenty of great local bike events to keep even the most hard core of cyclists busy in the holiday season. Here are three great San Francisco pedal-powered events this week to keep your brain engaged and your legs spinning:

Ladies Only Bike Ride — Tonight, Join the ladies of JRA or “Just Riding Along” for a fun no-drop ladies and trans bike ride through San Francisco.  Pedal together from One Bush Plaza in the FiDi on a casual ride around the city. Bring lights, helmet and a friend you want to introduce to biking. The JRA rolls out from Sansome and Sutter Streets at 6pm, free. Event details here.

Solstice Sunset Beach Ride — This Saturday, celebrate the shortest day of the year with a music-infused group ride to Ocean Beach. Watch the sun set over the ocean, have a bonfire, and listen to Rock the Bike’s pedal-powered sound system. Group ride is free and leaves at 3:30pm from 24th Street BART. Dress warm and remember your lights! Event details here.

Cycle Chic Bike Films — On Saturday night, pedal on over to Huckleberry Bicycles for a series of short bicycle films by Vancouver-based Cycle Chic films. Organizers say the series “highlights the diversity, creativity, and humanity of two-wheeled transportation.” Doors and party start at 5pm, films at 6pm. Free event and free bike valet. Event details here.
