Yearning for a trip but have no time to travel? Make the trek to North Beach this Sunday, and add a handful of stamps to your passport at the San Francisco Arts Commission's annual signature event. Meet local artists in a variety of neighborhood hotspots while creating a limited-edition book of original work.

Here's how it works: Art enthusiasts are invited to participate in the predetermined Passport route, where they will be sent to hidden gems (scavenger hunt-style) in North Beach. Artists will be stationed at each spot, and they'll "sign" your customized Moleskine "passport" notebook with a self-designed stamp. Expect an array of artists—Jeremy Fish, Stephanie Syjuco, Kelly Tunstall—and a host of quirky locations. We don't want to give too much away, but you may just end up rendezvousing with an artist at a local dive. (Vesuvio perhaps?) Extracurricular activities are encouraged: grab a bite, peruse a newly discovered boutique, or indulge in a mid-afternoon cocktail. Here's how to get in on the deal.

Step 1: Purchase your $25 passport online, or stop by the SFAC Main Gallery at 401 Van Ness Ave. (@ McAllister) Wed. through Sat., 12-5 p.m.

Step 2: Pick up your passport and event map at Washington Square Park, 11:30 a.m.- 2 p.m., Sun., Oct. 14, 600 Colombus Ave. (@ Union)

Step 3: Follow your map to all 11 stops, and fill up your passport with amazing original artwork. Expect to spend the majority of the afternoon exploring and mingling with fellow Passporters.

Step 4: You've just finished the map, what next?! Don't worry, there will be an after party at one of the hottest bars in North Beach.
