Stumasa to Close Doors

By

Sigh, as one reopens, another one closes. On a walk up Stanyon today we were sad to see that Stumasa, the Cole Valley/Haight area custom wood furniture and home accessories shop, will be shutting its doors after six years in the biz. On the bright side, it seems the closure is not due to this bulldozer of an economy, but rather the growth of owners Gregory Stukuls and Maybelle Imasa-Stukuls's family (twins - congrats!). Another positive? Maybelle will still be doing her custom calligraphy work and Greg will continue to produce furniture for wholesale. There's no news regarding the closure on the store's website, but if you stop by the Frederick Street location you can find out more on when the shop will officially shut its doors. Until then, you'll find all items marked off 40%, including the made-with-care wood furnishings for which they're known.
