1. The Soft Moon, "Repetition"

From its just-dropped Total Decay EP, as soon as you put this on you feel like you're getting sucked into a creepy space vortex faster than you can say "oopsy daisy." This breakout SF band plays the Independent tonight–we can't think of better music to listen to on All Hallow's Eve.

2. Alice Cooper, "I Love the Dead"

A hilarious, tongue-in-cheek ode to necrophilia in which Alice Cooper hoots, hollers and cackles like a trying to win the title for "Creepiest Man Alive." He's definitely up there.

3. Blue Oyster Cult, "Don't Fear the Reaper"

Duh.

4. Ozzy Osbourne, "Bark at the Moon"

A total campy classic that perfectly captures the constant anguish and alienation that is the life of a werewolf, right down to the ferocious guitar work and Ozzy's unhinged howls at the very end.

5. Daniel Johnston, "Casper the Friendly Ghost"

Ghosts and angry spirits who rise from the dead on this day each year are what Halloween's made of, so we chose this song (yes, we know it's not very creepy) as a quietly tragic, childlike take on what it's like to be pushed around by society and then only loved after you've died. Cynical and morbid, yes. But isn't that what Halloween is all about?
