1. Roky Erickson, "Two Headed Dog"

A fragile musical mind that could've been a casualty of the 60s, Erickson is an insane livewire who you have to see live before he quits music entirely. He plays Great American Music Hall this Saturday, March 3rd.

2. Green & Wood, "Pillars Of Creation"

I saw this band play Hemlock this past Saturday, and was floored by how awesome they were. Heavy, prehistoric riffs and a sneering, Ozzy Osbourne-esque vocalist make this LA metal band totally mesmerizing onstage. Next time they're in town, make it a point to witness their eardrum destruction.

3. Zola Jesus, "Seekir"

This synth-goth princess is the kind of serious artiste who'll make anyone rethink their theories about how young people are lazy and too self-indulgent to make anything of themselves these days. She plays this Thursday, March 1st at Great American Music Hall.

4. Mikal Cronin, "Apathy"

The newest golden boy of rock to emerge from the local scene, catch Cronin do his solo stuff as well as perform in Ty Segall's band–both in one night. The onstage chemistry will be out of control at Great American Friday, March 2nd.

5. Flipper, "Sex Bomb"

This influential SF band (they spawned a million noise, punk and grunge groups forever trying to capture Flipper's magic) is not to be missed. Even in their later years, they totally slay. Travel to Oakland's New Parish and catch them this Friday.
