Mikal Cronin
Mikal Cronin released a summery new single from his upcoming album MCII (his first on Merge Records!) called "Shout It Out". Suddenly, it doesn't feel so cold outside anymore. [via consequenceofsound.net]
Of Montreal-approved psych band Painted Palms dropped their first bit of new music since 2011–a 7" entitled "Carousel". It's a woozy little track that definitely whets our appetite for what's to come for this band. [via The Bay Bridged]
New Berkeley resident Chaz Bundick, of Toro Y Moi, talks his new album Anything in Return (recorded at the Mission's Different Fur Studios), and performed a dreamy rendition of his single "High Living" on Your Truly. [via Yourstruly]
Awesome indie label Moon Glyph just moved to Oakland from Minneapolis, and SF Weekly welcomes the Bay Area's newest label by interviewing its owner, Steve Rosborough. [via SF Weekly]
Harkening back to their recent, mellowed-out Castlemania album, the loveable maniacs in Thee Oh Sees have dropped a new track from their just-announced new album Floating Coffin. It's called "Minotaur", and features strings and a definite singer-songwriter vibe. [via Pitchfork]
A benefit show for house fire victim Ursula Rodriguez (and KUSF DJ and Rite Spot bartender) was announced this week, slated for February 20th at Brick & Mortar. And it's so worth your while; Shannon & The Clams, The Mallard, Swiftumz, and Blasted Canyons will be on deck to raise the roof for Ursula. [via Brick & Mortar]
The Lawlands shared a new slow burner called "Youth". It's their first since their former lead singer left the country to teach English. We dig new singer (and former Lawlands keyboardist) Anthony Ferraro's soulful croon and let-me-tell-you-a-story style. [via The Bay Bridged]
