One advantage of having the America's Cup in town is its positive influence on the eat and drink offerings along the waterfront.
Starting next month, some nautically-themed treats and cocktails will be anchored onto the menus of Coqueta, Hard Water, La Mar Cebicheria Peruana, and The Plant Café Organic—all a part of the loftily named America’s Cup Culinary Collection, presented by The Piers.
Spokesperson Brittany Pass says the focused offerings came about after a meeting of the culinary minds. “Alicia Esterkamp Allbin, principal of San Francisco Waterfront Partners, brought all The Piers Restaurant Collection tenants together to curate this culinary collection that captures the vibrancy of their waterfront location with the excitement of Americas Cup.”

At Coqueta, sample a bit of cheeky fog with the ORACLE drink ($13), a delish mix of 209 Gin, house-made anise tonic, elderflower, lemon, "hibiscus sea 'air' plus a splash of San Francisco fog.” Share Chiarello’s “podium paella” ($40—serves four!), squid ink paella with day boat scallops and fire-roasted piquillo. La Mar’s The Regatta Prix Fixe menu
No surprise that Hard Water's bar star Erik Adkins and chef Charles Phan focus on the barrel for this round, with a tonic in the form of the America's Cup drink ($10) a blend of whiskey, American vermouths and Amari. La Mar Cebicheria Peruana's chef Diego Oka works his seaside magic with traditional ingredients that are familiar to anyone who’s lounged away in Peru—or fawned all over someone else’s Facebook travel pics. Oka’s prix fixe menu options are double the fun, leaving no vegetarian behind. The Regatta ($19.95) includes cebiche mixto (with Mexican yellowtail), calamari and shrimp in an ají amarillo leche de tigre with Peruvian corn and yam. Causa pulpo olivo blends tender octopus tartare with Peruvian black olives, red pepper and onions over yellow potato causa with avocado purée. Or try the Arroz Criollo, a combo of wok sautéed rice with aji panca, choclo, shrimp, calamari and mussels. Specials available now through September. Pier 1.5 @ the Embarcadero.
The Planet Cafe Organic will also be offering a special menu through September including “Spinnaker” scallops ($13) involving dayboat scallops with asparagus puree, Hollandaise and petite greens and "Catamaran” crab cakes ($12) with lump crab meat, tomato and avocado salsa, and avocado crème fraiche. On the cocktail menu, try the Tomorrow We Sail, a tasty mix of Champagne, LBV port, dark rum, and triple sec. Pier 3 @ the Embarcadero.
