Three Reasons to Cross the Bay Bridge

Three Reasons to Cross the Bay Bridge

The heat wave may be over, but the sun still shines on the East Bay. Following are three great spots to enjoy it this weekend:

LoCA Uncorked Since you probably aren't planning a wine-tasting trip to Lodi any time soon, the area's vineyards have decided to bring its wine to you. This weekend Treasure Island plays host to LoCA Uncorked, featuring tastings over 200 wines plus local food vendors and killer views of the Fleet Week and America's Cup action happening this weekend. It's the perfect spot to be this weekend, but the wines are so good you might re-think that trip to Lodi.

Portal Patio Sure the heat wave is over but this weekend should still bring plenty of sunshine Oakland's way, making it a good time to check out Portal, a new project from Jennifer Tucci (of Rosamunde Sausage Grill fame) and Warren Rector, where there are actually more outdoor seats than indoor seats (hello, beer garden!), not to mention an awesome brunch menu and over 15 beers on tap, most of them local.

Music for People and Thingamajigs
Berkeley has a long and storied reputation for experimentation and general weirdness, and this festival is one of the better examples. Celebrating experimental music that incorporates made/found instruments and alternate tuning systems, the15th Annual Music for People & Thingamajigs Festival invites artists who design their own musical instruments to join in a festival of workshops, music making, and performances. The festival will run on Sunday as part of the Berkeley Arts Festival on University Ave.
