Andre Agassi Makes a Book Tour Stop in Palo Alto

As part of a promotional tour for his new autobiography Open, tennis great Andre Agassi will appear in a conversation with broadcaster Barry MacKay in Palo Alto this Friday.


The eight-time Grand Slam winner's memoir follows a harsh upbringing with his Iranian-Armenian father, a struggle with drug abuse, his personal relationships with ex Brooke Shields and wife Steffi Graf, and of course his 21 years as one of the sport's greatest icons. The founder of the Andre Agassi Charitable Foundation, the philanthropic athlete has raised more than $85 million for the Andre Agassi College Preparatory Academy, an acclaimed K-12 charter school for underprivileged children in his hometown of Las Vegas.

The chat with Agassi will begin at 1pm at the Oshman Family JCC Cultural Arts Center (3921 Fabian Way, Palo Alto), followed by a 2pm signing. Tickets are $15 for members, $25 fornon-members, or premiums, which include a seat near the front and a copy of the book, for $45 for members, $55 for non-members. To purchase tickets, log onto the Commonwealth Club website. There will be no video cameras or memorabilia signings.
