Waterslides, Boating, Hiking, and Sunshine Await at Bullard's Bar

Waterslides, Boating, Hiking, and Sunshine Await at Bullard's Bar

Where are you going for Memorial Day weekend? For this week's Scenes of the City we spent last weekend scoping out a prime place for boating, hiking, water skiing, camping, fishing, and lots of California sunshine and scenery.

Just three hours outside of San Francisco we landed at Bullard's Bar in Yuba County, in the Tahoe National Forest. The 16 mile long reservoir is chock-full of fish and has over 60 miles of shoreline to explore via boat or by foot. With lots of hot weather and open expanses of water, it's often considered one of the best recreational lakes in the United States. We recommend renting a houseboat at Emerald Cove Marina and cruising around the lake in style, although they vary in design: there are houseboats available with waterslides, hot tubs, multiple kitchens, and all of your creature comforts!
