Wedding Inspiration: A Spring Fete at Napa's Auberge du Soleil

Katie Dickinson Shane Kayser met on their first day at the University of Wisconsin; neither would have guessed at the time that the'd end up, seven years later, married with a dog.

As with most freshmen, the two wanted to be single in college—oh the fun they'd miss out on if they were in a committed relationship. But alas, Katie and Shane started dating as soon as they met. Six years later, on Thanksgiving weekend, he proposed. She was with her family on their routine tradition of driving through town to take in shimmering holiday displays. At the final stop, in lights, was,"Katie, you will marry me," and there he was on one knee.

The lovebirds made their way to Auberge du Soleil in Napa Valley for their big day that was simple, chic, and not taken too seriously with hints of glitter, the bride in flats, with old-school photos of the couple on tables. Shades of pale blush and ivory inflected the bridesmaids' dresses, florals, cake, and even the ring bearer's mini bow tie. Muted arrangements and petals down the aisle made for an elegant path to their ceremony site overlooking cascading hills and vineyards. The newlyweds wandered the wooded grounds, cloaked in glimmering Wine Country sunlight, before joining the reception for an evening of sipping vino, swapping shoes, and dancing.
