iPhone Wedding Photos?

Indeed, this was taken with an iPhone.

When it comes to wedding photography and videography, an outfit called iPhone Shooters says the best tool is likely in your pocket. Brian Adams (photographer) and Rainer Flor (videographer) have gone where no professional has gone before when they recorded Flor’s wedding with their iPhone 4s. And here’s the startling news: Even the pros can’t tell the difference between the iPhone pictures and the images shot and recorded with conventional cameras.

“When you look at the prints, we don’t think you can tell the difference between the SLR (single lens camera) photos and the iPhone photos,” says Flor.

What’s more, using the iPhone instead of a digital or video camera allowed the duo to do what they believe modern brides and grooms want: share the nuptials with the world almost instantaneously. “Brides really demand that their photos be done right away, because they can’t wait to post them on Facebook or Twitter,” says Adams. “This allows us to do just that.”

Flor explains that to share photos from an event with conventional tools, a photographer or videographer would have to remove the digital card, download the photos, edit them and then post to social media sites. With the iPhone, it’s as easy as tapping a key. “The iPhone lets us do it with the push of a button,” he says. “There simply isn’t time to do it the other way.”

As for color correction and adjustments, as the old iPhone ad says, there’s an app for that. And that’s what, for the most part, Flor and Adams used: conventional apps. “We did spend a little money,” says Adams. “For example I bought a $30 lens attachment for my phone.”

If professional-grade photography can be taken with a phone millions of people own, it begs the question: Are these men helping to destroy their industry? “We don’t think of this as the end, we think of it as the beginning,” says Adams. “We would expect that you would hire a professional for a big event, like a wedding. There’s no substitute for creativity and a good eye. But, if we show people what the phones are capable of and they do a great job shooting their son’s little league baseball game, that’s a good thing.” “We want to show the millions of people running around with iPhones in their pocket that the photo and video capabilities are endless,” adds Flor.

Adams and Flor are based in Orlando, Florida, but take assignment across the country and around the world. Since recording Flor’s wedding in November, they’ve started booking other iPhone weddings. “It’s great because holding a phone, you become invisible and that’s when you get the best photos,” says Adams. “But a lot of people want to book us because right now it’s a novelty and a real conversation piece.”

Wedding Photographers

Great points! Thanks for taking the time to discuss this, I feel strongly about it and love learning more on this topic. If possible, as you gain expertise, would you mind updating your blog with more information? It is extremely helpful for me.

Really very nice discussion! I'm also a wedding photographer and I'd like reading more points from your side. Keep it up.

I am really having fun with my iPhone and its photo editing skills and instant upload capabilities. My friend is getting married this Saturday and she already has her professional photographer, which I agree is essential and should not be replaced by an iphone. I have agreed to shoot her entire wedding on my iphone, edit and upload to a facebook album that all her friends can view instantaneously. I am so excited and can't wait to see the results. She will now have her professional shots, but she will also have instant memories that can be shared with all her facebook friends. I also plan on printing a small album/book that will include all the iphone shots as a wedding gift.

Womens True Religion Skinny Jeans,The design of True Religion has a logo with a man whose name is Maitreya Buddha held up his thumb and hold a guitar, which stands for the connection between Jeans and music. Brand top quality Jeans display exquisite craftsmanship and elaborate subtle lace pattern, which catches people's eyes.

Actually, these are technically good photos and I am a professional. Now, they wont stand up when magnified, but for all intents and purposes, they have nice composition and lighting and would make lovely small prints. Those of you guys with your panties in a bunch are just sore that someone with a $200 cell phone is probably kicking your butt and you have $20k in gear. In the right hands, any camera is a pro camera.

all you who are complaining about this person being a professional and shooting with an iPhone are idiots. the tool in fact does not matter, you could easily make astounding images with an iPhone. these particular images are not very good and these photographers shouldn't be calling themselves professionals, but on the other hand i have seen far worse images come out of the best DSLRs, the idea is a valid

As a wedding photographer, I've occasionally snapped an image or two with my iPhone, because I love the polaroid app I have. Is the print quality there? No it's not. And while I would never shoot a whole wedding on anything less than my Canon 5D Mk II, I think iPhone photography has a snapshot aesthetic that is a fun supplement to the "real" photos.

Brilliant! I've read several articles on this subject and am amazed at the simplicity of it all. I am an avid iPhone photographer and have been able to enlarge professional quality prints from my 3G. I've never thought to try and take it to a new level. You have inspired me. Thanks guys.

I can see a HUGE difference, and frankly that's not the point. I've supplemented my coverage with a Holga, for fun and as a surprise. But I personally would never, EVER, agree to an entire wedding being shot with a cellphone and am kinda disgusted that a "professional" would even ASK his clients to agree to it.

Ridiculous ! You can't tell the difference between iphone prints and SLR's and brides want their pictures immediately? Brides have never requested that of me. They would rather have beautiful touching moments captured for a lifetime of memories. Anyone can take pictures, an artist MAKES pictures.

ridiculous.... there is not way these little 5 or 6 MP images can hold up in larger prints. I hope that these people aren't charging a fortune.

I agree that there is instant gratification but if all you friends are there I am certain they have phones of their own to splash the wedding images across the web

Yeah. This article is weird.

“When you look at the prints, we don’t think you can tell the difference between the SLR (single lens camera) photos and the iPhone photos,” says Flor.

REALLY?

I don't believe you, Flor. Any if you believe that you have no eyes.

I would like to see the pictures taken from the i phone blown up to a 16 by 20 and then tell me they look the same as professionally shot photos.

This is absurd and an insult to photographers who put their heart and soul into their work.
