The Big Eat 2025: 100 Dishes to Try in San Francisco This Year

It’s been a long wait but 7x7’s Big Eat is finally served.

This year's list of 100 must-try dishes in San Francisco draws from a wide range of classic joints, trending restaurants, comforting neighborhood spots, and hole-in-the-wall favorites from Bayview-Hunters Point to North Beach, and Potrero Hill to the Outer Richmond.


A handful of these dishes have long graced the Big Eat (think Zuni’s chicken, King Henry VIII cut at House of Prime Rib, orTadich Grill’s hangtown fry). Others, like Prubechu’s ko’ko’ wings, Besharam’s pav bhaji, and Mom’s Lao sausage at Good Good Culture Club, have more recently secured their status as favorites on the SF dining scene. We’ve even chosen a few of the dishes from newcomers like The Happy Crane and Nopa Fish with which we’re already obsessed.

The list is, in other words, pretty diverse—but it is also far from comprehensive. There are dozens, if not hundreds, of restaurants, bakeries, and delis that are no less deserving of a spot than those we chose. With just 100 slots to fill, we had to narrow things down somehow. (If there’s something we missed that is just plain egregious, let us know.)

And remember, restaurant menus rotate regularly. While we tried to focus on staple dishes, they may not always be available. DIshes marked with a (V) are vegetarian.
