College sweethearts Caitlin and Timm wanted to create a casual, fun, and intimate atmosphere for their 200 wedding guests. Their homespun, picnic, nuptials using lots of the bride's DIY talents to bring everything together.
After the ceremony at Stanford Memorial Church, guests were shuttled to Villa Montalvo where Caitlin and Timm had set outdoor lounge furniture throughout the gardens. A signature sangria made with red wine from the bride’s parent’s vineyard was served along with the groom’s favorite beer from his home state of Michigan, “Oberon,” special ordered by the bride as a surprise.
A bright yellow poppy bouquet (in a mason jar, of course) was the motif used on the invitations, menus, and other printed goods. The bride's mom even hand-sewed Cait and Timm a wedding quilt in their wedding colors: bright yellows and oranges. The scraps left over were used for escort cards and favors. On the back of each card was a handrwritten personal note to the guest from the bride and groom.
