1. Bay Area Brew Fest: Get warmed up for Beer Week next month by hitting this fourth annual celebration of craft beer at Fort Mason. The $40 admission ($50 VIP) includes unlimited tastings from dozens of breweries, including Ballast Point, Almanac, Heretic, Pacific Brewing Laboratory, Sierra Nevada, Deschutes, Uncommon Brewers, Lagunitas, Speakeasy, Firestone Walker, Bitch Creek, Ninkasi, Rogue, and more. Food trucks like Doc's of the Bay and Bombzies BBQ will be on-site, and Three Twins Ice Cream will be offering a special Lagunitas flavor. Get your tickets here. (Saturday, January 5, 2-6 pm, at Fort Mason Building A, Marina Blvd. and Buchanan St., Marina.)
2. New Year's Resolution Party: If you've resolved to work out more this year, why not get started at a party at a sports store and a gym? Pick up a new set of workout duds at Lombardi Sports (which is offering 20% off athletic shoes and 25% off athletic apparel), then head over to Studiomix for a tour of their facilities and a free pass to come work out. At both venues, you'll be treated to complimentary wine and nibbles as well. RSVP here. (Thursday, January 3, 6-8 pm at Lombardi Sports, 1600 Jackson St., and 8-10 pm at Studiomix, 1000 Van Ness Ave., Russian Hill/Tenderloin.)
3. 2013 Wine Soiree: Wine writer and consultant Britney Campbell of Brit's Wine is kicking off the new year with a tasting at Blanc et Rouge, featuring sommelier Andrew Fidelman (previously of Spruce). The $25 ticket includes tastings of four wines to help drinkers find their favorite profile, as well as light hors d'oeuvres; drinkers are encouraged to linger afterwards with a glass of their favorite. Cocktail attire is encouraged as well. RSVP here. (Friday, January 4, 7-10 pm, at Blanc et Rouge, 2 Embarcadero Center, Embarcadero.)
4. Sushi Tuesdays at Monarch: If you're on the hunt for tasty sushi that won't break the bank, head over to Monarch every other Tuesday for rolls and nigiri from chef Aaron of 100 Demons Sushi, who has over 10 years of experience behind the sushi bar. All specialty items are $3-5, while rolls are $5-8, and it's also Top Shelf Tuesday, with $3 off any top-shelf liquor selection from behind the bar. Japanese single-malt, anyone? (Tuesday, January 8 and January 22, 5:30-8:30 pm, at Monarch, 101 6th St., SOMA.)
5. All-Day Happy Hour at The Brixton: Also on the Tuesday happy-hour scene is the Brixton in Cow Hollow, which is transcending the local penchant for cheap tacos by offering such $3-5 delicacies as spinach and artichoke dip, sweet potato fries, and soup. (OK, they have tacos too.) Wash it all down with a $3 draft beer, $5 house cocktail, or $6 glass of wine. And the deals are available all day, for those who work in the service industry or just like a slightly boozy lunch break. (Tuesdays, 11 am-2 am, at The Brixton, 2140 Union St., Cow Hollow.)
