1) Celebrate National Margarita Day at Blackbird
In addition to SF Beer Week, Craft Beer Month, and Strong Beer Month, February also boasts National Margarita Day, on Saturday the 22nd. To celebrate, Blackbird is serving up two Suerte Tequila margarita cocktails from 2 pm to 2 am. If you want to branch out beyond the Suerte Classic Margarita, spice things up with the Gilded Hare, made with Suerte Silver, Amontillado Sherry, cinnamon syrup, grapefruit, lime juice, and Bittermens Hellfire Shrub. Suerte Tequila’s California Brand Ambassador, Summer Jane Bell, will be on hand to pour straight tastes of Blanco, Reposado and Añejo from 6 to 8 pm. Señor Larry's Seven Layer Bean Dip Bar Jars will be available all night, featuring layers of Suerte Tequila-braised black beans, roasted beet pico de gallo, green chili queso, guacamole, tangy salsa verde, Reposado-infused creme fraiche, and marinated olives served in a jar with corn tortilla chips. 2124 Market Street @ 14th
2) More Margaritas for National Margarita Day
Tres Agaves Tequila and CRUZ Tequila are also celebrating National Margarita Day on Saturday, February 22, at a handful of bars around town. Rogue Ales Public House (673 Union Street) and 21st Amendment Brewery (563 2nd Street) will be serving margaritas made with Tres Agaves tequila, which was founded by a Bay Area native and is linked to Tres Agaves Tequila Lounge in San Francisco. Margaritas made with CRUZ will be available at Mamacita's (2317 Chestnut), Tommy's Restaurant (5929 Geary Blvd) and Presidio Bowling Center (93 Moraga Ave). CRUZ is a premium, sipping tequila made by a band of brothers from Guadalajara and Jalisco and sold in hand-blown, recycled, glass and metal bottles.
3) Be "Casamigos" with George Clooney at Tres
George Clooney won't actually be at the bar, but his tequila will be. Casamigos is an ultra-premium tequila brand owned by Clooney and his bestie, Rande Gerber. The two friends built adjacent homes on the same plot of land in Mexico. They named the compound Casamigos, which loosely translates as "House of Friends." When they couldn't find a local tequila that suited their palates, they decided to make their own. Casamigos Tequila now produces a Blanco and a Reposado, which are featured in two new cocktails currently on the menu at Tres, for $10 each. The Yellow Visor combines Casamigos blanco with fresh lime and maple syrup in a coupe, garnished with fresh grated nutmeg. The Friendly Flip features Casamigos reposado, fresh lime, lavender maple syrup, nutmeg, and a whole egg, served tall and frothy. 130 Townsend
4) Meet the Maker: Medlock Ames Winery at Kuleto's Restaurant
Kuleto's Restaurant continues its Meet the Maker series this Thursday, February 20, from 5 to 7 pm. Representatives from Medlock Ames, an estate fine wine producer in Alexander Valley, will be on hand to share Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Reserve Chardonnay, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, and a Red Bordeaux Blend. For a $15 entrance fee, guests can taste all the wines, chat with the winemaker, and sample small noshes from Kuleto's Executive Chef Bob Helstron. 5) Celebrate Craft Beer Month at Treasure Island Flea Market
SF Beer Week may be over, but there are still plenty of reasons to drink beer this month. February is Craft Beer Month, and Treasure Island Flea Market is celebrating this weekend. On Saturday and Sunday, the Treasure Island Flea Bar is serving more than a dozen local brews from Bay Area breweries. If you can't decide which one to order, get a tasting tray for $6, and sample your choice of six beers. Besides beer, you'll find mobile fashion trucks selling clothes and vintage jewelry, 15+ taco trucks and food stands, 300+ vendors, live music, scavenger hunts, a free DIY jewelry workshop, and a full bar. The first 500 "fleasters" to arrive after 10 am get in free; everyone else pays $3. Drivers can park for free at the Flea. Visitors can also take a 10 minute bus ride on the MUNI 108, which leaves every 15 minutes from downtown SF. 1 Avenue of the Palms
