Beat Poetry and Jazz at Top of the Mark

Beat poetry is back at Top of the Mark—along with some specialty cocktails, tasty bites, and all that jazz, every Tuesday in April from 6:30 to 8:30pm. The Poetry and Jazz Series celebrates San Francisco's beatnik scene in a bar named by Herb Caen, who originally coined the term beatnik. This week's entertainment is the wordWind Chorus, providing the perfect backdrop for a $14 Java Beat or Bohemian Mule cocktail. Can you dig it?  //  999 California St. (Nob Hill)topofthemark.com

Edited Cocktails on Novela's New Reserve Menu

What would happen if you made cocktails with some of the highest-quality, hardest-to-find bottles of booze? Novela knows the answer, and they're sharing the knowledge via their new Reserve Menu, an edited collection of cocktails made from high-end hooch. Standouts include the Hibiki Manhattan, featuring Hibiki 12 whisky, and the 1942 Margarita, made with Don Julio 1942. But we're partial to the Old Fashioned, made from Whistle Pig's Boss Hog Rye.  //  662 Mission St. (SoMa), novelasf.com

Hawker Fare's Sacred Tiki Cocktail Menu

Speaking of fancy new cocktail menus, Hawker Fare SF is opening a treasure chest of new tiki cocktails this week, pirated from the sacred recipes of Don the Beachcomber, Trader Vic, Soggy Dollar Bar, and the House of Happy Talk. For the Bali Hai cocktail, the bartending geniuses behind Wizard Oil Company had to track down a rare spirit known as "okolehao," which is made in the remote mountains of Hawaii from Ti root plant and rum. We're grateful for their hard work. And for the booty.  //  690 Valencia St. (Mission), hawkerfare.com
