Juice bars are popping up all over. Whether you are a cleanse fanatic or just want a refreshing beverage, here’s the rundown on where to find fresh juice downtown.
A local favorite, their juices and smoothies are made from locally sourced ingredients (with an emphasis on organic) and are made to order. Berkeley based Thistle offers both raw cold pressed juices and coconut water using organic, locally sourced and sustainable ingredients in 8.5 ounce bottles for around $5. Fresh squeezed-to-order juices and blends are available at Jamba Juice locations around the city including the Financial District location. The juice blends such as the Triple Revitalizer includes whole fruit so you’ll get more fiber and less of a sugar spike. The Emeryville-based company also offers “tasty bites” like baked goods, breakfast wraps, and fruit and yogurt parfaits. 152 Kearny St @ Sutter.
Project Juice is a big proponent of cleanses and offers detailed information about “how to cleanse” on their website. They feature locally sourced, organic, cold pressed and raw juices with vegetables and fruits. In addition, they offer creamy almond and date drinks. Thrive is another ardent cleanse promoter that offers a nutritional coaching component in addition to juices. Stop in for pressed juices, the typical green blends, or coconut, nut and date drinks. Yet another cleansing-oriented juice company with more of a health than weight loss message, they offer delivery and their cleanses start at around $63 for six 16-ounce drinks and bottles of blue-green algae and aloe. Their products are 100% organic, premade, cold pressed and unpasteurized, available in 16 oz bottles. Green Surge offers smoothies, mostly fruit and vegetable blends, with a seasonal focus. The smoothies which are packed with fiber are $10 for 16 ounces and there is a $2 deposit on the glass bottles.
