If there were an Academy Award category for best comedy cameo, I’d submit Elvis Costello’s Talladega Nights turn (when he’s nonchalantly breaking bread with Mos Def at Sacha Baron Cohen’s character’s house) for consideration. The mere idea of Mr. Costello hanging out in one’s backyard (regardless of one’s Nascar affiliation) is ridiculously hilarious. Of course, if Mr. Costello weren’t already the legend he certainly is, that moment would lack comedic value. Which brings me to my main point. Mr. Costello is in town this Thursday playing the Warfield and if you haven’t seen him, you should. Livenation.com
