Tasting Menu at Plin
Available every Tuesday-Thursday starting this week, Plin — the new pasta shop in the Mission from chef Alexander Alioto — has launched a new three-course tasting menu for under $40. Look forward to Alioto signatures like Salt Seared Monterey Bay Calamari with eggplant caponata; Spaghetti with Grandpa George’s Sausage; Fettuccine Carbonara; Risotto with Fontina Cheese, chicken skins, and grapes; Braised Niman Ranch Pork Cheek with sweet potato puree; and Fried Mary’s Chicken with crispy white polenta and sauteed kale. Add dessert for $7 or a wine pairing for $10.

Pasta Classes With Flour + Water
Just after the release of the Mission eatery's new cookbook, Flour + Water will offer pasta classes this month. With a glass of prosecco in hand and charcuterie platters at your fingertips, be prepared to mix dough and make pasta with a hand-cranked machine. Each class includes a signed copy of Thomas McNaughton's cookbook as well as fresh pasta to take home. Plus, you'll get to sit down for a three-course family style dinner with wine pairing. Delish!

Indian Summer Tequila and Mezcal Tasting
An international selection of tequila and mezcal, small bites, and music from DJ Irene Hernandez-Feiks make for a great Friday night. Wine Release Dinner
McEvoy Ranch is hosting an intimate dinner on Saturday to celebrate the release of their 2011 Red Piano, an elegant blend of Syrah, Montepulciano, and other red varieties. Pianist Sarah Cahill— who the New York Times called "fiercly gifted"— will also be in attendance to provide the perfect soundtrack for a romantic night, performing on Elton John’s famed red piano.

Cookbooks at the Commonwealth Club
If you can't make it to their pasta classes, Flour + Water will also be at the Commonwealth Club this week to promote their new book. On Monday, Chef Thomas McNaughton will appear in conversation with Adam Savage, host of Mythbusters, to discuss the science of pasta making.
