In case you ever doubted that your favorite pair of Levi's were built tough, consider this: nearly 1,000 Levi Strauss & Co. employees shoveled, planted, and generally got muddy on Wednesday for their 14th annual Community Day – and every single one them were in tried and true blue jeans.
Community Day is Levi's global day of giving back to the Bay Area – their home for the last 160 years. This year empoyees donated their time to three different campaigns: PAWS – where employees shampood the four-legged friends of those living with HIV/AIDS, Black Rock Arts Foundation – where employees sewed bags made out of recycled denim for four local charities, and La Cocina – where employees lend their business expertise to help low-income food entrepreneurs as they formalize and grow their businesses.

In total the local company gave more than $100,000 and 3,700 hours to the community. Since its inception 14 years ago, LS&Co. has donated more than $4 million in local community grants and more than 400,000 hours on this day around the world.
