Our Favorite San Francisco Drag Shows

Crack out your best costume and prepare to celebrate. Pride is almost upon us and to kick things off, we've compiled our favorite drag shows in the city - plus one Pride only special of Sex and the City!

Daytime Realness @ El Rio
Organized by Trannyshack and Hard French, Daytime Realness is a 5 hour party on the patio at Rio every third Sunday afternoon. With booty poppin' on-stage installations by the Jiggalicious Dance Babes, spectacular queer unicorns radiating light love and oozing sweaty realness, it'll be a fabulous afternoon of dancing and drinking. Described as an amalgamation of  “Burt Reynold’s Mustache, Astroturf, Kiddie Pools, White Loafers,” and more, it is sure to be a Sunday you probably won’t remember but will never forget. 3158 Mission Street

Sex and the City @ Rebel
Coinciding with Pride week are two Sex and the City episodes performed live on stage at Rebel. The story mirrors the HBO series and revolves around the lives of four young professional women in search of the perfect relationship and, of course, orgasms. Starring Heklina, D'Arcy Drollinger, Lady Bear, Trixxie Carr, Leigh Crow, and Cookie Dough, it promises to be a memorable adaptation of Sex and the City. You can get presale tickets here. 1670 Market Street

Divas and Freaks @ Deco
Deco is a true San Francisco gem. It has a welcoming atmosphere and friendly crowds as well as fantastic shows. Every third Saturday of the month is their Divas and Freaks extravaganza. Featuring local divas and a fair smattering of freaks, it's a night of fantastic drag entertainment. You never know quite what you're gonna get with this motley crew of miscreants, but you’ll definitely enjoy yourself. 510 Larkin Street

Follies @ Marlena’s
A cheap but still awesome option is Marlena’s Dive Bar in Hayes Valley. No cover charge and cheap drinks make this one of the most fun drag shows every Saturday night at 10pm. Showcasing some of the Bay Area’s brightest talent, there is a huge variety of entertainment every week including, singing, synching, impersonators, not to mention the drag costumes themselves. 488 Hayes Street

Hot Boxxx Girls @ Aunt Charlie’s Lounge
If you are up for a different kind of drag show, then come along and cram into this Tenderloin dive bar for a night with some of the oldest queens in the Bay Area. Friday and Saturday nights are when it happens as the eclectic parade of Hot Boxxx Girls of all ages strut along the catwalk. This legendary drag show has been going for so long there has even been a documentary called Forever’s Gonna Start Tonight, created about one of the founding drag queens, Vickie Marlene. 133 Turk Street

Trannyshack @ DNA
Trannyshack is a monthly drag show that incorporates everything from low brow trash to high brow performance art and everything in between. It's part club night, part tranny burlesque, and all a delightful mess. Trannyshack has been a San Franciscan stalwart for over 15 years with an entertaining drag show, incredible costumes, and some of the trashiest music in town.
