"Shopping is a woman thing. It's a contact sport like football. Women enjoy the scrimmage, the noisy crowds, the danger of being trampled to death, and the ecstasy of the purchase." ―Erma Bombeck

Say Hello to hello sanrio in Union Square This Weekend

Sanrio, Hello Kitty's Japanese kin, will be debuting its new hello sanrio collection on Friday, December 9 with a slew of family events at BoxLunch in Union Square. The colorful capsule collection includes clothes, accessories and the most adorable signature Sanrio items starring character-rich prints (i.e. Hello Kitty, Chococat, My Melody, etc.) To celebrate, your favorite characters, a Sanrio designer from Tokyo will be hanging out at the specialty shop on Friday and Saturday and drawing custom character illustration. Note: HK will be available for selfies from 2pm–6pm on Saturday. So. Much. Cuteness. // Friday 11am–7pm and Saturday 11am –6pm at BoxLunch, 69 Powell St. (Union Square), sanrio.com

Shreve & Co. (Finally) Opens New Flagship

It's been a long and windy road since the iconic 165-year-old San Francisco jeweler moved from its longtime home (200 Post Street) more than a year ago. But all that matters not—now that the high-end retailer has officially opened the doors to its spiffy two-level, 15,000-square-foot permanent flagship, located just around the corner from the old homestead. Just a few highlights of the sparkling space: a dedicated diamond room, a special showroom for renowned watchmaker Patek Phillipe and private viewing suites. // 150 Post St. (Financial District), shreve.com

Add hot cocoa from Dandelion into the mix and this event is a certifiable triple threat. Naturally, shoe shopping and fawning over boots are encouraged, as well. Fa la la la la… // 2047 Fillmore St. (Pacific Heights), thefryecompany.com
