"Sid and Nancy" at the Tenderloin's Cafe Royale

By

It's time for the July installment of the Incredibly Strange Picture Show, a near-monthly free movie night at the Tenderloin's cozy Cafe Royale (Wed 7/15, 8p). This month features "Sid and Nancy," the sometimes loved, sometimes reviled 1986 pseudo-biopic about Sex Pistols frontman Sid Vicious and his sordid relationship with Nancy Spungen. The movie has it all: junkie romance, drugs, violence, self-destruction, great music, and Gary Oldman in the role of Sid Vicious. The show is free and will be preceded by a "spinning" of Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables, the 1980 debut album of San Francisco's Dead Kennedys and a staple of any great punk collection.
