1. Foodie Families Unite!
You have nothing to lose but an afternoon (or two). Ghirardelli Square’s “Savour the Square” event on June 21 and 22, which features a wine tasting with Cellar 360, an olive-oil class, cupcake decorating at Kara’s cupcakes and free ice cream sundaes. Family-friendly cooking demonstrations, offering recipes for such stalwarts as macaroni and cheese, pizza, oatmeal cookies and French toast, will also be part of the fun. 2. Gettin' Fruity with It
Celebrate summer's bounty with this fruit-centered soirée. On June 21, spend the eve of the summer solstice at the It's Time to Get Fruity event at the California Table kitchen at 3824 Mission Street. Following a discussion with Farmer Al from Frog Hollow Farms, participants will sample local oysters, refreshing wines and appetizers and end the evening with plenty of samples just picked from the farm. 3. Free Cheese. What Else Do You Need to Know?
Cheese Plus, aka "the mothership" for all San Francisco cheese lovers, is celebrating its third anniversary. On Saturday, June 21, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. the shop will be hosting an artisanal-food tasting including delicious sausages and salami from Fra’Mani, LaLoo’s legendary goat’s-milk ice cream and Bellwether Farms farmstead sheep’s-milk cheese. 4. Star Power
Legendary San Francisco restaurant Masa’s (recently awarded one Michelin star) is celebrating its 25th anniversary with a special menu co-designed by executive chef Gregory Short and Masa’s alum Richard Reddington, now chef-owner of Redd in Napa (which boasts a star of its own). 5. We'll Always Have Paris
On June 24, from 7 to 9 p.m., join the Francophiles at the Alliance Française of San Francisco for a virtual tour of one of Paris' great food neighborhoods, the Ile Saint-Louis. The itinerary takes you to Rue Saint-Louis-en-l'Ile, where you’ll discover cellar-aged cheeses, fine wines and other gourmet delicacies. You will also “visit” three fine restaurants and learn all about the acclaimed ice-cream maker Berthillon. Tickets are $6 for alliance members and $10 for guests and are available here. 



6. Mission Masala 
Get excited: The forward edge of global Indian cuisine is coming to town. On Wednesday, June 19, Kasa Indian Eatery will open its doors at 18th and Noe, serving Indian street food married to a taqueria sensibility. Anchoring the menu is the kati roll, house-made roti bread wrapped around traditional South Asian dishes like chicken tikka masala, lamb curry, and karahi paneer (wok-fried Indian cheese with peppers, onions and chutney). For those who like to graze, Kasa is offering thali, the classic Indian meal composed of your choice of one entrée, plus daal, rice, raita, chutneys and roti bread.

7. All Up in Your Grill
Party in the Mexican kitchen! On June 25, join La Cocina, Los Cilantros and El Huarache Loco for a class on summer salsas and fresh Mexican food on the grill. A fundraiser for La Cocina Community Kitchen, which helps low-income entrepreneurs start their own businesses, this is a rare chance to learn some of the fundamentals of Mexican cuisine from some of the city's best cooks. Hands-on lessons include grilling, understanding chiles and creating salsas from the traditional to the modern. The class includes paired cocktails and wines and leads up to a sit-down meal in the state-of-the-art commercial kitchen, all for a bargain-basement, tax-deductible $110.
