The Return of the Iconic Redwood Room

By

Significant updates are in the works at The Clift Royal Sonesta Hotel, which is saucy news for fans of the downtown hotel's famed Redwood Room.

The bar has been a center of the San Francisco social scene since it first opened the day after Prohibition was repealed. This reawakening will meld the hotel's original craftsmanship with interior updates that reflect modern SF style.

Legendary in the local nightlife scene, the allure of Redwood Room will remain intact with its signature gorgeous redwood walls and glamorous lighting. New Art Deco–inspired furniture will hearken to the lounge's 1930s heritage, and cool neutral tones will let the original redwood millwork shine. New recessed lighting will be added above the bar to further highlight the original wood marquetry. The idea is to refresh the space while preserving its iconic history.

Look out for the re-opening in January 2020.
