Video House Tour: A sweet wooded sanctuary in Montclair asks $1 million

Good things supposedly come in small packages but, when it comes to Bay Area housing, this isn't often the case—and homes here certainly don't typically come with small price tags, either.

When we do spy a home priced at a million or less, we always have to look; it's that old train wreck mindset, and we're usually met with disaster. This week, though, we were treated to a rare surprise when we came across this listing for a 1,500-square-foot gem on a leafy private lot in Montclair.

A private bridge over Temescal Creek gives access to the sylvan retreat, situated on over 8,500 square feet of property lush with trees and meandering gardens. Multiple wood decks and breezeways have been constructed to maximize enjoyment of the outdoor setting.

The main level houses the common areas including a split-level living room which has a pitched ceiling, fireplace, and several tall windows that let in natural light and greenery. Sliding doors here open to a large deck. The farmhouse-style kitchen is spacious and includes eat-in dining with its own set of picture windows that look out to the verdant backyard and creek. A full bathroom and laundry room complete this floor.

There are three bedrooms and one full bath upstairs. The primary room has a lovely private door to the backyard deck.

With myriad skylights and views into the treetops, the home feels like a wooded sanctuary.

Bedrooms: 3

Bathrooms: 2

Size: 1,500 square feet

Asking price: $1,000,000
