What does it take to create lasting change in a community?

At USF, students in the Master of Arts in Urban and Public Affairs (UPA) and the Master of Public Administration (MPA) programs discover the answer through rigorous academics, real-world projects, and a values-driven education rooted in social justice.

These programs attract students who want more than just a degree—they want to make an impact. With flexible class schedules, immersive internships, personalized mentorship from distinguished faculty, and a robust alumni network, USF’s graduates emerge with effective management skills and the tools for designing and analyzing policies, ready to lead fulfilling careers in public service.

For Camille, a student in the Urban and Public Affairs program, USF is where policy meets purpose. “This program has helped me really understand how cities work and how they can work better for everyone,” she says. “My grad degree will be a stepping stone as I gain new leadership skills and establish my career. It’s opening doors for me as I keep my commitment to social justice and equity.”

MPA student David came to USF with nearly a decade of successful engineering experience under his belt. At a professional crossroads, he was looking to merge his expertise with the intricacies of public service leadership and appreciated the in-person format, small class sizes, emphasis on practical applications, and supportive faculty and staff at USF.

“All of the professors and staff at USF have been incredibly supportive in helping me relate my coursework to my passion for public works,” David says. “The MPA program is providing me with the leadership skills, policy analysis tools, and network to transition from technical roles to strategic leadership positions.”

Whether your path leads to grassroots advocacy or government leadership, USF’s UPA and MPA programs will prepare you to drive meaningful change.
