Vietnamese Beer: Triple Threat

By

This is the beer we drank through Vietnam. Interestingly, there it was called 333, not 33. According to one blog I found, 33 is the original name, and it was the communists who, after taking over in the ‘70s, appended the extra 3.

Nevertheless, it was good to see while dining recently at Minh Tri, in the Inner Sunset.

The food there is quite good if you stick to classic Vietnamese dishes. The spring rolls were fresh and succulent, and the pho broth is some of the best in the city.

All of it wonderfully washed down by this clean, crisp and refreshing lager. I could almost hear, once again, the buzz of a million motor scooters off in the distance. In Vietnam the name of this beer is pronounced "ba-ba-ba."
