Workout & Make New Friends with These Summer Sports Leagues

By

Looking for a way to spend some time in the sun and even make new friends this summer? Tap into your middle school enthusiasm for team sports with a little help from SF Social. The friendly, social sports league is expanding from just bocce to offer kickball, volleyball and even sailing leagues this summer.

SF Social's sports leagues are easy to join and play, and are a great opportunity to meet new people. Leagues meet at the same time and place each week, play games in a non-competitive environment, and typically end up at a local bar with dedicated drink specials after the game. Plus, this summer the organization will be using iconic local parks including Mission Dolores, Civic Center and Marina Green Triangle for practice and games. Check out the leagues below and register now through June 29th to join the fun!

Kickball

The 6-week season kicks off July 14th and meets Thursday nights at Dolores Park and the Joe DiMaggio blacktop. All teams make the playoffs and flip cup is a mandatory post-game celebration and counts in the season standings! You can sign up to enjoy the extremely social kickball league as a team, small group of friends, or solo.

Sailing

No-experience-needed Sunday afternoon sailing begins July 10th at the Treasure Island Sailing Center. SF Social provides the boat, coach, and the race management team so that you and your friends can learn to sail and compete against each other in a fun, social, and safe atmosphere. The popular sea-faring league is already sold out for the first session so hurry to book your time this summer.

Bocce

See how SF Social all started! Join one of the popular leagues on Treasure Island, Golden Gate Park, the Mission, North Beach or the Marina and hone your "Kiss" or "Baci" skills. Held on Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights there is no excuse to miss out on experiencing the winning team's bar tab.

Grass Volleyball

Get into the co-ed action on Wednesday and Thursday nights at Marina Green, Golden Gate Park and the Civic Center. Compete in rally scoring with certified referees in 6-8 weeks of competition culminating in a final tournament.

// Leagues cost between $39 and $159 per season, with no annual membership. Each player receives a t-shirt, and all equipment is provided. Participants must be 21 or older for adult leagues and to play bar games. Leagues last for six weeks plus playoffs.
