Experience the Cal Academy of Sciences' "NightLife's Dark Room"
Calling all shutterbugs! This week’s NightLife is all about the art and science of photography. This event also marks the culmination of the Academy’s second annual LoveLife photo competition – where you can vote for your favorite contender for the People’s Choice award and check out the judge’s winners from both year’s competitions. Lytro will be on hand to show how they take light fields out of the research lab and make them available for everyone in the world’s first Light Field Camera. Also meet the folks from Instagram, take your photo in the Magnolia photo booth, and participate in Genevieve Quick’s Lens Lab. The LoveLife photo competition is presented by 7x7.
Every Thursday night, music, creatures and cocktails come together for NightLife at the California Academy of Sciences. Attendees can explore exhibits and aquarium displays while sipping creative cocktails, and let exotic animals from around the world transport you to the tropics, Tibet, and dozens of other remote destinations. Special planetarium shows will take you even farther afield. Each week features a live band or DJ, and a unique theme – from salsa dancing to sustainable seafood and beyond. For guests age 21 and over.
Tickets are $12 ($10 for Academy members). For more details and tickets, click here. NightLife takes place Thursday nights (6-10pm) at the California Academy of Sciences. Music, Creatures and Cocktails. All events are 21+.
