Support Local Business at This Week's Evening Art Walks

Night is falling quickly these days, and the chilly early eves are perfect for a mosey at this week’s back to back art walks in two of the city’s most happening ‘hoods.
The Divisadero Art Walk takes place Thursday 12/8, 5 p.m. – 10 p.m. on Divisadero St. between Haight and Geary. There will be art openings, street art, music, food, and general neighborly camaraderie.
In addition to the various indie art galleries sporting their latest exhibits (like personal fave Big Umbrella Studios), Mojo Café (the lovely sidewalk café and even lovelier bike shop) will be serving $5 glasses of white wine all night and hosting Rice Paper Scissors Pop-Up dinner until midnight. Fawn Hubbard’s beautiful recreation of vintage San Francisco Maps will also be on display.
An interesting addition to the night on Divis will be the Wigg Party talent show. Occupying the barren building soon to be taken over by a bakery/café serving Four Barrel Coffee, the Wigg Party (the community organization based in SF neighborhoods surrounding “The Wiggle”) will throw a talent show of song, dance, poetry, and whatever freakiness you want to bring on stage. A sign-up sheet will be distributed at the event, with the talent competition kicking off at 7:30 p.m.
On Friday 12/9, Lower Haight hosts its Holiday Art Walk with art openings, live music, trunk shows, and food. Art openings can be found at D-Structure, Lower Haters, Edo Salon, Greenburger’s, and even Laundry Locker!
A fashion show will take place at P-Kok, Aline’s Closet has discounts on jewelry, and Love Haight Computers is giving away a Macbook, with additional discounts on Apple computers and repairs. Many Haight Street bars will have drink specials (The Grind, Nickies, Danny Coyle’s,and more) and Haighteration is even spreading rumors of a possible live choir singing Christmas carols in the street!
Get to know your neighbors and these two neighborhoods chock full of cool local businesses.
